We’re delighted to share that Modupeola Fadugba’s solo exhibition, Of Movement, Materials and Methods, currently showing at Gallery 1957 until 29 June, has been featured in Wallpaper Magazine’s guide to London Gallery Weekend 2025.
Now in its fifth year, London Gallery Weekend (6–8 June) showcases over 125 contemporary galleries across London, celebrating the city’s rich artistic diversity and featuring works that engage with urgent social and cultural themes.
Fadugba’s exhibition marks a new chapter in her practice, moving from her signature water-themed works to explore collective choreography inspired by the vibrant Ojude Oba festival of the Yoruba people in Nigeria. Through her use of fire-scorched surfaces, beading, gold leaf, and traditional motifs, Fadugba creates a powerful meditation on transformation, heritage, and community.
With her background in chemical engineering and a collaborative approach with local artisans, her multi-layered practice speaks to diasporic memory and materiality in contemporary art.
