    Exhibition Production Assistant

    About the role

    We are seeking an organized, creative, and proactive Exhibition Production Assistant to support the planning, execution, and day-to-day operations of exhibitions and programming at Gallery 1957 London. This role is central to ensuring exhibitions are delivered to the highest standard and offers hands-on experience across exhibition production, logistics, communications, and gallery operations. You’ll work closely with the Directors, artists, logistics partners, and the wider Gallery 1957 team in Ghana to support all stages of exhibition production.

     

    What you’ll do

    • Support the planning, installation, and deinstallation of exhibitions

    • Coordinate artwork logistics, handling, and documentation

    • Prepare exhibition materials including wall texts, labels, and sales assets

    • Assist with daily gallery operations and visitor engagement

    • Support press, digital communications, and exhibition documentation

    • Help deliver openings, talks, art fairs, and external programs (including travel when required)

     

    About you

    • Experience in coordination, administration, or project-based roles

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

    • Confident written and verbal communicator

    • Comfortable working across multiple projects and teams

    • Proficient in Google Suite and Excel; design tools a plus

    • Genuine interest in contemporary African and global art

    About the role

    We are seeking an experienced, proactive Exhibition Production Manager to lead the planning, delivery, and operational execution of exhibitions, residencies, and external programs at Gallery 1957.

    This senior role oversees complex productions across locations and international projects, working closely with Directors, artists, production teams, and external partners in Ghana and the UK. The position requires strong leadership, project management, and creative problem-solving skills to ensure the highest standard of exhibition-making.

     

    What you’ll do

    • Lead exhibition production from concept through installation and deinstallation

    • Develop and manage production timelines, budgets, and logistics

    • Collaborate closely with artists to realize exhibition visions

    • Oversee documentation, photography, and production workflows

    • Manage and mentor production teams, assistants, and interns

    • Support gallery operations, public programs, and art fair participation

    • Lead communications, PR coordination, and promotional strategy related to exhibitions

     

    About you

    • 3–5+ years’ experience in exhibition production or arts management

    • Proven ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and teams

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    About the role

    We are seeking a highly organized, creative, and proactive Coordinator to oversee the operational, administrative, and promotional delivery of the Yaa Asantewaa Art Prize at Gallery 1957. This role works closely with the Accra Gallery Manager and Art Prize Director, as well as artists, jury members, sponsors, and internal teams, to ensure the smooth execution of the Prize and its associated exhibitions. The position requires strong project management skills, excellent communication, and a deep passion for contemporary visual arts, particularly within the Ghanaian and African art landscape.

     

    What you’ll do

    • Coordinate all stages of the Yaa Asantewaa Art Prize cycle, including calls for submissions, jury review, artist communications, exhibitions, and prize announcements
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for artists, jury members, sponsors, and internal teams
    • Manage project timelines, schedules, and event logistics
    • Design and oversee promotional materials across digital and print platforms, in line with the Prize’s branding
    • Support marketing efforts, including social media, newsletters, and press communications
    • Assist with curatorial and programming activities related to the Prize and exhibitions
    • Maintain accurate records, databases, and project tracking using tools such as Microsoft Excel
    • Ensure all activities are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard

     

    About you

    • Proven experience in coordination, administration, or project management
    • Background in graphic design with strong presentation skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic project management tools
    • Experience managing Instagram, including content creation, scheduling, posting, and community engagement
    • Strong research skills, with the ability to gather, organize, and analyze information
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
    • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively
    • Deep interest in visual arts and strong understanding of the Ghanaian art scene
    • Creative, collaborative, and confident working with artists and partners
