In Inkosana, Wonder Buhle Mbambo presents a portrait that feels both concealed and revealed, playing at the edges of emergence. On one side of the canvas, hundreds of white plastic spoons, meticulously layered, form a luminous surface, a material once used at community gatherings, now transformed into something sacred. From this sculptural texture, a figure appears, peeking out as if from behind a veil. Dressed in a cream shirt against a warm ochre background, he bears the artist’s signature floral marking on his cheek — a symbol of rootedness, healing, and ancestral continuity.

The plastic spoons, sourced from discarded communal spaces, carry with them a residue of memory. They speak of nourishment, celebration, and waste, all at once. 작품 <잉코사나>에서 원더 부흘레 음밤보는 관객에게 숨고 있으면서도 동시에 앞으로 나가고 있는 것 같은 이중적인 경계에 서 있는 인물을 보여주고 있습니다. 그리고 화면 한쪽에는 수백 개의 흰색 플라스틱 숟가락이 겹겹이 쌓여, 빛이 나는 효과를 주고 있습니다. 이 일회용 숟가락은 과거 지역 공동체의 모임에서 사용되던 것으로 작가의 손을 거쳐 하나의 신성한 종교적 분위기를 보여주는 오브제로 탄생하였습니다. 이 조형적인 화면 너머로 한 인물이 살며시 모습을 드러냅니다. 따뜻한 오커톤 배경 앞, 크림색 셔츠를 입고 나타난 이 인물의 뺨에는 작가의 시그니처인 뿌리 내림과 치유, 조상과의 연결성을 상징하는 꽃무늬 마킹이 새겨져 있습니다.
