Frieze Seoul 2026: Amoako Boafo, Rita Mawuena Benissan, Serge Attukwei Clottey, Kaloki Nyamai, and Freya Tewelde
Booth A08
For our fourth presentation at Frieze Seoul, Gallery 1957 proudly presents a selection of works featuring Amoako Boafo, Rita Mawuena Benissan, Serge Attukwei Clottey, Kaloki Nyamai, and Freya Tewelde. Each artist brings a distinctive voice shaped by personal history, material inquiry, and a sustained engagement with how selfhood, intimacy, and presence are shaped and understood.
Bringing together five distinctive artistic practices spanning African and diasporic contexts, the presentation explores themes of memory, identity, materiality, belonging, and the body. Through painting, sculpture, textile, and mixed media, the artists offer intimate perspectives on contemporary experience and its layered personal, cultural, and social histories.
Together, these five practices create a nuanced and deeply reflective presentation that speaks across generations and geographies, offering a compelling vision of contemporary artistic production from Africa and its diaspora.
